About the Department

The Department of Statistics, Cotton University (formerly Cotton College), was established in 1954, under the affiliation of Gauhati University with Prof. Bangshidhar Das at the helm and Late Prof. Nanidhar Kalita as his associate. The honours course was started in the next year under their capable initiative. Thereafter, the Post Graduate course was introduced in 1986. By this time, the Department of Statistics had proved its worth and the number of students steadily increased. The department has a brilliant track record of producing quality students who are now working in different parts of the world. The department takes pride in producing...
